About the course

A Master of Business Administration is the internationally recognised qualification for students with business experience. Our MBA is distinguished by its international focus, both in course content and student body. We have links with institutions around the world but particularly with some of the leading business schools in Europe. Through the European Credit Transfer Scheme, our MBA students can take half their MBA studies in London and half in Berlin or Paris with the possibility of gaining a jointly awarded MBA from LSBU and one of our partner institutions – the Berlin School of Economics and INSEEC, Paris.

The MBA is interactive and highly participative, using a mix of lectures, seminars and case study sessions. If you wish to specialise in one of the following pathways, you must study the following option units and the dissertation must be in your chosen specialist area:

  • E-Business: e-Commerce plus one from: Managing Information Systems, Knowledge Management, Project Management.
  • Finance: Corporate Finance, Financial Management of International Business
  • International Banking: International Banking plus one from: Bank Value and Performance, Bank Lending and Credit Risk.
  • International HRM: International Employment Relations, International Strategic Personnel and Development.
  • International Marketing: International Marketing plus one from: Integrated Marketing Communications, Global Logistics and Operations Management
  • International Tourism: Service Quality for Tourism, Travel Behaviour

These units are offered subject to demand and timetable availability.

Career opportunities

Employment prospects are excellent. In addition to strategic management, successful students can enter a variety of roles in Marketing, Finance and HRM.

Typical background of applicant

Your degree/professional qualification should be in an appropriate subject equivalent to at least a UK Hons Degree (2:2) You should also have at least 3 years relevant work experience, and for those whose English is not their first language, written English at IELTS Level 7. Students holding a Diploma in Management Studies at an appropriate level may be exempt from the Semester 1 (full-time).

Additional notes

All students are encouraged to take a foreign language from the range offered by the Language Centre.

The MBA also requires participation in two residential programmes.
